I didn't give this place much thought as my initial visits weren't memorable or as welcoming. But Marwa has changed all that. We've seen her the last few times and couldn't be more impressed. Their bakery is located right next to Salt n Straw.

They have quite an inventory of cupcakes here at SusieCakes. You can buy whole cakes or by the slice. There were about six different cakes to choose from. There are also a few cookies.
Friend purchased a dozen variety of cupcakes for a birthday party. They packaged the cupcakes well and the presentation box was cute. A few cupcakes already had 'happy birthday' written on them so that made for even quicker ordering. The kids loved the chocolate cupcakes .
We tried:
MOLASSES COOKIE:
- This was a stiffer cookie due to the baking of the molasses. We wholeheartedly enjoyed this cookie. It had such a wonderful chew to it. You could absolutely taste the sweet molasses. Nothing tasted artificial. I could have done without the icing frosting but that's just me.
SNICKERDOODLE COOKIE:
- This had more of a cake consistency where the dough was almost fluffy.I liked the cinnamon and sugar! But I preferred the molasses cookie over the snickerdoodle.
GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE:
- I'm not a fan of coconut with nuts in cakes. I thought the chocolate cake was denser than what I remembered tasting in the past. Friend said this was a fantastic German cake as nothing, again, tasted artificial. She loved the stickiness of the sweetened coconut, the crunch of the nuts, and the denseness of the cake.
PUMPKIN CUPCAKE:
- I'm so happy that I finally was able to try a pumpkin item here at SusieCakes One Paseo. You most definitely could taste pumpkin. I thought it was sweet but somehow savory (not sure why).
COCONUT CUPCAKE:
- Friend thought the coconut cupcake was just ok.
CHOCOLATE WITH CHOCOLATE FROSTING:
- *THIS* is THE BEST cupcake here at SusieCakes. I LOVED this cupcake. The chocolate cake was moist. The chocolate frosting was so creamy and not terribly sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed this cupcake. I will say it didn't taste as great the next morning after being in refrigerator. The cake and frosting had hardened. So it's best to eat this room temp.

I am a fan of SusieCakes One Paseo. Marwa has always been so welcoming and has changed the way I originally viewed this bakery. We can't wait to return to buy more items to try out (and pair it with some ice cream from next door). -

I couldn't resist stopping into SusieCakes at lunch the other day and was not disappointed with my sweet treats. I was a little overwhelmed when I walked in with the many cupcakes, cakes, cookies, bars; but I ended up getting a lemon cupcake and Susie's Nutty for myself and a vanilla cupcake and whoopie pie for my husband. We both thoroughly enjoyed our desserts. We actually didn't eat our cupcakes until the next day and they were still very fresh.
When I first walked in, it did take a little while for someone to take my order. I think once there was a line of people, they realized that they needed someone at the counter. There was one other person in the bakery but she was helping someone with a catering order and I'm not sure why it took as long as it did to get someone else to help. Once someone did help me, she was super nice and answered my questions to help me decide on what I wanted.
I didn't see the prices listed anywhere in the store, so had to ask. Comparing to other bakeries, it is a little high, ($3.65/cupcake, $5.50/whoopie pie, $4.50/Susie's Nutty); but I thoroughly enjoyed my sweets. I would come back and try a cake slice next time.
I suggest checking out their website ahead of time to look at the flavors so you won't be overwhelmed (like I was) in trying to decide what to get. -

I stopped in and everything looked SO good! They had pumpkin pie as a sample and I will be coming back to get one (or more) for Thanksgiving! The pumpkin pie was some of the best I've ever had!
I ended up going with a snickerdoodle cookie with help from Kaylene (I think I'm spelling her name correct) and it was amazing! I'll be getting cupcakes/cakes there for everyone's birthday or any occasion now from here. -

Their cakes and cupcakes are really delicious. I have now been to several events where people have brought them - and they are enjoyed by everyone. Today we enjoyed these mini Halloween cupcakes.

I popped into SusieCakes during the Yelp Turns 15 event at One Paseo. I love my new cute cake cutter magnet!
The bright colors inside this shop complement the warm and friendly staff!
Besides my fellow Yelpers, this shop was all sorts of busy with customers buying yummy food. It's a great sign that the baked goods here are legit!
This shop sells cake slices, not just whole cakes. And of course they do custom creations like birthday cakes. They had several cute b'day cakes on display when I visited (check my pics).
The Old Fashioned Chocolate cake had like 7 layers of yumminess! My daughter wouldn't have let me leave without buying a slice if she had seen their red velvet cake.
They also have a good selection of other baked goodies like cupcakes and cookies too! The lemon squares they had on display were very temping.
I look forward to visiting this wonderful shop again soon. I'll need to get some of that red velvet cake and maybe a few lemon squares.
